MISS INDEPENDENT
Caroline Bierly, 2020
Acrylic on canvas
This mural is very inspired by my own life. I have always been a very independent person, and I think that I still am. However, following a messy break-up in October of 2019, I haven't been the same. I have been struggling to be as independent as I once was. It's not that I can't do things on my own, or that I am in constant need of the opinions and validations of others, but being alone in this life has been hard. I've done it for so many years, why can't I do it anymore? My intention with this mural is to empower other single women to stop longing for the attention of anyone else. Painting this mural hasn't cured my loneliness, and I know it will not cure anyone else's, but I hope that we can all learn to be content in our independence and live a life outside of a relationship.
